Asbestos-Related Diseases
Nationwide Representation for Asbestosis and Lung Cancer
The Throneberry Law Office provides focused representation in asbestos litigation on behalf of people with asbestos-related cancer or lung diseases. Our mission is to get clients quickly diagnosed so that they can get treatment to extend life or alleviate the symptoms.
We take cases nationwide, and we take every case very seriously. Our legal team is lead by attorney Michael Throneberry, who has personal experience with asbestos disease, having watched his father suffer and die from malignant mesothelioma. He understands the financial strain and the impact on the entire family, and that memory drives him as he pursues litigation against the corporate entities responsible for asbestos exposure.
Asbestos Diseases
Our clients are people who were unknowingly exposed to asbestos in decades past, and are just now experiencing the symptoms. We have represented many victims of mesothelioma, the most common asbestos-related cancer. We also represent people who are suffering from lung ailments or damage to surrounding tissues and organs caused by asbestos:
- Asbestosis — A fibrous scarring of the lungs
- Pleural plaque — Painful scarring of the pleura which surrounds the lungs
- Pleural effusion — A build-up of fluid that escapes into the chest cavity because of a breakdown of a diseased pleura. Effusion is a strong indicator of pleural mesothelioma.
- Lung cancer in people who worked around asbestos in the past
Asbestosis
Asbestosis is caused in inhaling asbestos fibers, although it may be 10 to 30 years before victims experience symptoms. The most common symptoms of asbestosis are labored breathing and fatigue from minimal activity. Most people who develop asbestosis had heavy, repeated exposure to asbestos particles in a work setting, such as in mining, manufacturing, maintenance, industrial mills, construction and remodeling, or service aboard a Navy ship.
Although not fatal of itself, asbestosis can also lead to pneumonia and other complications, including lung cancer. Patients suffer a marked reduction in quality of life because of the pain and constant tiredness. Asbestosis is incurable and progressive. Treatment is aimed at easing the symptoms.
