Vermiculite Processing Plants resulting in Asbestos Exposure in Arizona

W.R. Grace/Solomon's Mines and Asbestos Exposure in Phoenix Arizona

The W.R.Grace/Solomon's Mines located in Phoenix processed asbestos-containing vermiculite from Libby, Montana between 1964 and 1992. The plant is still in operation today but processes vermiculite from safer sources. Those that were of risk to exposure to asbestos included those who not only worked at the site but also those who lived with the employees of Solomon's Mines. The neighborhood surrounding the site was also at-risk to exposure to asbestos due to the activities and the Solomon's Mines that released asbestos into the air.

Ari-Zonolite Plant and Asbestos Exposure in Glendale, Arizona

The Ari-Zonolite plant located in Glendale, Arizona also processed asbestos-containing vermiculite from Libby, Montana between approximately 1951 and 1964. As with Solomon's Mines, those that were at risk were the employees and families of the employees. The neighborhood surrounding the site was also at-risk for exposure to asbestos during the plants operation.

Asbestos Exposure Risks at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix and Other Military Facilities in Arizona

Luke Air Force Base located near Glendale in Phoenix, Arizona and the facilities were built prior to the 1980s. People living and working at the base prior to the 1980s could have been exposed to or came in direct contact with asbestos containing materials(ACMs). Others who may have been exposed to ACMs include those who built the facilities at Luke Air Force Base.
