Asbestos

Our Attorneys Travel Nationwide to Investigate Asbestos Exposure

Mesothelioma is a devastating form of cancer that can significantly impact its victims and their families. This disease is caused directly by prolonged exposure to asbestos, which is naturally occurring and was used for many years as a cheap insulator and fire retardant throughout many different industries.

At Throneberry Law Group, we travel to clients across the country to investigate the root cause of their mesothelioma claims. We identify the parties responsible for their asbestos exposure and aggressively litigate for compensation to cover the high-quality medical care our clients deserve.

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a cheap and efficient insulator once widely used in heavy-duty machinery and hundreds of common household products and building materials. It is now known to be the only cause of mesothelioma and asbestosis, diseases that devastate families across the country. Due to the long latency period of mesothelioma, many people only experience symptoms decades after exposure.

Different Types of Asbestos

There are six different types of asbestos, which include the following:

  • Actinolite asbestos. This type of asbestos is used to make insulation, but is also commonly found in drywall and paint.
  • Amosite asbestos. Found in South America, this type of asbestos is frequently used for construction-related projects and is made up of short, straight fibers.
  • Anthophyllite asbestos. This type of asbestos is naturally occurring in Georgia and North Carolina.
  • Chrysotile asbestos. This material is the most common type of asbestos and accounts for 90% of commercially used asbestos. This type of asbestos is characterized by its curly, long fibers.
  • Crocidolite asbestos. Crocidolite is not as commonly used as other types of asbestos. Blue in color, the asbestos has thin fibers.
  • Tremolite asbestos. This type of asbestos is found in Montana and was used for many years as insulation in attics throughout the United States.

The Health Hazards of Asbestos Exposure

Although the health hazards of asbestos exposure were documented early in the 20th century, hundreds of companies continued to use asbestos and asbestos-containing products as recently as the 1980s, knowingly or negligently exposing millions of American workers to potential harm.

At The Throneberry Law Group, our lawyers work closely with individuals and family members nationwide to develop a thorough work and life history to determine where and when asbestos exposure occurred. If a previous employer knowingly subjected you to exposure to asbestos, they should pay for the treatment to manage and alleviate the symptoms of your mesothelioma or asbestos-related disease.
