We identify the parties responsible for their asbestos exposure and aggressively litigate for compensation to cover the high-quality medical care our clients deserve.

Amatex Corporation utilized asbestos carcinogens in various products. The company was established in 1950. No questions exist about whether Amatex Corporation placed carcinogen asbestos in its products. The company was created in 1950 in Pennsylvania under the name of American Asbestos Textile Corporation to create and manufacture textiles for high-temperature applications. Amatex creates broad-woven cloth as well as other types of textiles that are used by various industries including in motor vehicle assembly, electrical power production, and shipbuilding. Amatex utilized asbestos extensively until the 1980s even though the material was understood to be dangerous by any person who inhaled it.

After countless lawsuits were filed, Amatex pursued Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1996. The company’s bankruptcy agreement established the Amatex Settlement Trust to compensate claims for various illnesses associated with asbestos exposure including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other illnesses. The company ultimately emerged from bankruptcy and still manufactures various fiberglass textile products for use in high-temperature settings.

The History of Amatex Corporation

Since the 1950s, Amatex manufactured textiles for various industries including insulation, clothes, and other products that needed materials with heat-resistant and durable qualities. Amatex currently has manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Mexico as well as warehouses throughout the United States.

Some Amatex’s products that include silica and fiberglass include broadcloth, gaskets, tubing, tapes, braids, rope, and wicks. Amatex also has supplied companies across the country in various industries including motor vehicle assembly, construction, gas utilities, mining, petroleum production, and welding.

Like other manufacturers before the 1980s, Amatex’s forerunner, American Asbestos Textiles Corporation, utilized asbestos in its products. Asbestos is a naturally occurring fiber that is heat-resistant and durable. When inhaled, however, the fibers become stuck in a person’s lungs and can result in mesothelioma, lung cancer, and other deadly illnesses.

Those most likely to have faced asbestos exposure due to products manufactured by Amatex are workers who were employed in the company’s plants or who installed Amatex products. Because manufacturers knew about the harm presented by asbestos but failed to warn workers about these dangers, a countless number of people were exposed to the deadly nature of asbestos.

When the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1982, Amatex was involved in more than 10,000 lawsuits involving claims of asbestos exposure. People who initiated lawsuits claimed that they developed mesothelioma or other difficulties due to their interaction with Amatex fabrics that contained asbestos.

Amatex asbestos claim trust was established to compensate individuals who worked in certain states and in occupations where they were commonly exposed to asbestos. Even though the trust fund is not active, claims against Amatex can still proceed.
